Webinar Description

This webinar will introduce the promise of heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback, including its applications in physical health, mental health, life coaching, and optimal performance. The presenter will: review what HRV is and why we should care about it, briefly examine the physiological basis for HRV, examine how we train clients in HRV biofeedback, and review the research on the efficacy of HRV biofeedback for a variety of applications. The session will close with case narratives illustrating how HRV biofeedback can be integrated into comprehensive programs for wellness promotion, lifestyle change, and optimal performance.


Objectives

Following this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • summarize the significance of heart rate variability for general health, mental health, and optimal human functioning.

  • master a heart rate variability training strategy applicable to both psychological and somatic symptoms of stress.

  • explain three current research findings on the applications of heart rate variability training.

About Donald Moss, PhD

Donald Moss, PhD, is Dean of the College of Integrative Medicine and Health Sciences at Saybrook University. Dr. Moss is president-elect of the Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (SCEH), and past-president of Division 30 (hypnosis) of the American Psychological Association and the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB). He is a fellow of both APA and SCEH, and is a current delegate to APA’s Council of Representatives and the International Society for Hypnosis. Dr. Moss has presented workshops and lectures in the US, Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, and Italy, including workshops and presentations on heart rate variability, breath training, biofeedback, hypnosis, and integrative medicine.
